farewell ct. this trains headed straight for nyc

little weekend getaway, i am grateful for you.

it feels strange to even be saying this because it is so surreal to me - one of my very best friends (old roommate in l.a) is moving from oregon to nyc today! together, we have been counting down the days to her big move, & now that its here. well. its just plain awesome. waking up, i felt like a five year old on christmas morning. i woke up at 5 & was utterly overwhelmed with excitement.joy.anxiousness. i love mallory. she brings living to life. you should know, i renamed her mallory james. it was just one of those weird.random things that rolled off my tongue one day and it stuck. i love it. mallory james...hmm. she is courageous. free. and so confident. so much fun just to be around. the fact that i will be in nyc with her, her first day, first time to the east coast- it wont feel real till i'm squeezing her in my arms. laughing. hugging. catching up over a cheap bottle of no name wine. i cant wait to show her favorite parks.coffeeshops.stores. my favorite (tiny.busy.hole in the wall) deli in union square (conveniently located right behind a spectacular farmers market) that has the best chicken salad grinders ever, loaded with that shredded crisp fresh lettuce. give her good little tid bits of useful information. show her how to ride the (kind of creepy) metro. bring her to an amazing bakery with delicious treats, where we will sit & talk about anything and everything that seems important at the time. you know.. those little things that are so grand. its been over a year since we've seen eachother. i cant wait. i'll be catching a train in a couple of hours, & will be sure to bring my new camera. (otherwise known as, my bebe) i will also be sure to bribe mallory into playing model for me ;) alright. i'm hot to trot. off to the city i go. grinning all the way.

in the previous blog about jessica & her many photos, i said something along the lines of "ill pick & choose a few, and if you'd like to see the full album contact me & ill send you the link", and so on and so on. well. scratch that thought entirely. its 4:34 in the morning right now. i couldn't sleep. i have work in a few hours. figured i may as well be doing something (somewhat) useful with my time. i didn't think i would be saying this, but i am very glad i got up to blog rather than continue to toss & turn & become even more frustrated than i already was, with the fact that i could not sleep. why, you may ask? because i learned something new in the wee hours of the night, which has made this crazy late night/early morning blogging totally worth it. its such a silly little thing too,

but essential for us photo-bloggers.

ashley + jonathan...engaged!

i am so (so) happy for my two friends ashley + jonathan,

and the announcement of their engagement.

it is likely that i freaked out more than ashley,

after hearing the big news ;)

i love these two individually.

i love them even more as one.

so real. so happy. so in love.

which of course, brings a smile to my face.

i was thrilled to be given the chance to take part in all the excitement & to have been asked to take their engagement photos + put together their save the dates. although the weather was unbearable, we did manage to get a few shots done in between intervals of thawing out our frozen hands from the heat in the truck. thank you jon and ash - not only for your patience in the bitter cold, but also for giving me the opportunity to do this for you.

i loved every second of it.

these photos were from a shoot i did in november with jessica. we took a sunny saturday and made a full day adventure out of it. the day consisted of eating. photo taking. and more eating. a perfect day if you ask me! while editing & organizing all of the photos from this shoot, i broke it down into 3 albums. pearls.boots.&.field. and yes. i will get some photos up from the other albums asap! because there are so many, i will pick & choose a few from each album to post, & then if interested in seeing each album in full, you may contact me via email for the link. ok, back to the shoot...jess was an awesome first time model for me. we had a lot of fun doing this throughout the day. it was somewhat of an experiment too. reason being - other than the young children i nanny for, i have never done a portrait shoot. so, the two of us were a little apprehensive about the project, but excited none the less! like i had mentioned before, you will see that jess was an awesome model for me - thank you jessabell

hi everyone! so i have finally decided to jump into the - ever so time consuming - world of blogging. i have always found blogging to be quite intimidating. i will say from the start, i am not a writer. i am not a spelling bee champion. and i am certainly not tech savvy to all the wonderful yet complicated new programs out there these days. i am in love with photography. i purposely do not capitalize letters when i should. and i often, unknowingly spell words incorrect. that being said, i have started this blog to share some of my work with those of you who would like to see. most importantly (to me anyways), i wanted to mention that i give all of my photography credit to three very important, amazing people that i so luckily have in my life: everett. niloo. and. afshin. i simply couldn't have done it without them. the three of them have by far been the most supportive and encouraging. they have given life to my dreams and have made this all possible for me. i am eternally grateful. anywho. on this new blog of mine, i will be posting my own work - new or old - along with other (sometimes random) things that i find blog-post worthy, such as; neat ideas, creative DIY projects, new adventures or places to go/things to see- and so on. if you would like to contact me for a photo session or any other questions at all, please do so at klvphotography28@gmail.com . thank you much.
